Why Choose DSTV Installers in Ontdekkers Park?
Ontdekkers Park is a classic Roodepoort West suburb near Florida and Witpoortjie – 1970s facebrick homes built solid, but with old white RG6 cable corroded in the hot roof causing intermittent E48-32. Stands are small to medium, so tree growth blocks 68.5E fast in summer. Add strong Highveld wind that moves light dishes off 1-2 degrees and kills signal, and you need a local who knows the area.
Along Ontdekkers Road, complexes have communal dishes where one faulty LNB kills many units. Body corporates call us because we don’t just replace LNBs – we test SCD2 Smart LNB (24-user) with Promax, check DC power, and isolate shorted cables. That’s the difference between a R3000 call-out and a once-off fix.

Ontdekkers Park DSTV Installation FAQ
How fast can you come to Ontdekkers Park?
Same-day service in Roodepoort West. We are in Florida/Witpoortjie area daily. Call before 3pm and we’re usually in Ontdekkers Park within 2-4 hours. Emergency communal failures on Ontdekkers Road prioritized.
Do you fix E48-32 no signal in 1970s facebrick homes?
Yes – that’s 80% of our Ontdekkers Park calls. Old white RG6 corroded in the hot roof + loose F-connectors cause E48-32. We replace with black double-shielded cable, compression connectors, waterproof LNB, then re-test to MER 14.2 dB / 90% locked.
Can you fix tree blocking my 68.5E signal on small stands?
Absolutely. Small to medium stands grow dense trees fast. We check line-of-sight to IS20 68.5E, recommend 80cm dish on 1.2m pole or alternative wall, clear signal without massive tree felling. We document peak with Promax.
Strong Highveld wind moved my dish – can you secure it?
Yes. Highveld gusts move light dishes on short bolts. We remove cheap wall plugs, fit M10 rawl bolts into facebrick, heavy-duty 60cm stand-off bracket, re-align and tighten to survive Roodepoort West storms.
Our complex on Ontdekkers Road has no signal – one faulty LNB?
Very common. Communal SCD2 Smart LNB powers 24 units; one short in a unit or corroded splitter kills all. We test DC current, isolate faulty flat, replace SCD2 if MER < 10dB, re-balance to 24-user mode. Body corp invoice provided.
Do you replace old white RG6 cable corroded in roof?
Yes. White RG6 from 1990s goes brittle and green. We pull new black RG6 double-shielded through roof, fit drip loop outside, waterproof tape + silicone, test continuity. Fixes pixelation and E48-32 returning weekly.
Extra View in Ontdekkers Park – do you use SCD2 Smart LNB?
100%. No more twin LNB + multiswitch. One SCD2 Smart LNB handles Explora + 2 extra HD decoders via unicable. We set user bands, heartbeat cable, and pair via DStv app. Works perfectly in facebrick homes with limited cabling.
What warranty and meter reading do you provide?
All work is DStv-approved with Promax HD Ranger+ reading on invoice: MER 14.2 dB typical, Peak 90% Locked, SAT IS20 68.5E, LNB SCD2 Smart. 12-month warranty on workmanship and alignment, not storm damage or trees growing back.
