FROM PRETORIA WEST

Kirkney isn’t your typical Pretoria suburb — it’s Kirkney smallholdings on the edge of Pretoria West with open terrain, few wind breaks, long boundary fences and dusty service roads. That open terrain is great for line-of-sight to Intelsat 20, but Highveld wind hammers cheap 32mm brackets and wall-plugs fail in facebrick. We see it daily: loose 60cm dishes, water in coax from long exposed runs, and Smart LNBs fried by borehole pump surges. That’s why we spec 80cm dishes on 38mm galvanised brackets, SANS-approved foam-filled coax with waterproof F-cons, and 3m pole mounts concreted for Kirkney wind — not the quick lapa fix.

Our team is based 3 mins away in Pretoria West, not in Johannesburg. That means we’re in Kirkney for real call-outs, with a bakkie stocked for the suburb: 80cm high-gain DSTV-approved dishes, Smart LNBs pre-tested for Explora / Extra View for plot houses and staff quarters, heavy-duty wall brackets, 3m galvanised pole mounts with stay-wires, and proper earthing for Highveld lightning. We handle WhatsApp body-corporate approval where needed, trench-friendly cabling for long plot runs, and non-penetrating options for smallholding outbuildings. Flat rate quoted on WhatsApp before we arrive.

Common DSTV Issues in Kirkney

Every suburb has its own DSTV character. Here are the issues we see most often in Kirkney — and how we fix them on site for plots and open terrain.

💨
Windy Open Terrain & 3m Pole Sway
80% of Kirkney calls are wind-related. Smallholdings on the edge of Pretoria West have no wind breaks — cheap 32mm brackets bend and 3m poles sway. We install 38mm galvanised heavy brackets, concrete-set 3m galvanised pole mounts with stay-kit and re-align to 90%+ lock rated for Highveld gusts.
✔ Fixed same-day in Kirkney
📏
Long Coax Runs & Plot Signal Loss
Kirkney smallholdings need 40-80m coax from dish to house — RG6 cracks in sun, joins corrode, signal drops to E48. We replace with SANS-approved foam-filled coax, compression waterproof F-cons, proper earthing against lightning, and Smart LNB balancing for multi-building plots.
✔ Fixed same-day in Kirkney
🌵
Dust, Borehole Pump & Rust
Kirkney open terrain = dust in LNB, borehole pumps cause power surges, and 60cm dishes rust in 2 years. We swap to sealed Smart LNB, 80cm anti-rust DSTV-approved dish, surge check on decoder PSU, and galvanised 38mm wall brackets for long-term plot use.
✔ Fixed same-day in Kirkney
